The Isaac Hayes - Shaft 2-Disc CD Collection offers the newly remastered, classic soundtrack - as originally released in 1971 - plus all of the original music from the film, which did not appear on the best-selling album. This deluxe set combines the soundtrack and the score in a bundle for the first time ever!

The original Shaft soundtrack reached number 1 on Billboard and won a Grammy for Best Film Score, while the “Theme" won the Oscar for Best Original Song. However, the music from soundtrack and the film were actually not the same.

After recording in LA the music that would be used in the film, Hayes returned to Memphis to re-record songs to be released as the soundtrack. It’s taken 48 years, but finally both the music from the film and the soundtrack can be heard together in one 2-disc package!

A landmark album released by Isaac Hayes and the Bar-Kays at the height of their powers in 1971, Shaft not only resulted in an Oscar win for Hayes, but launched the wah-wah workout and #1 smash-hit, “Theme from Shaft” into cultural ubiquity.
